Primary Fiber Crops Market Size in CIS

In 2022, the CIS primary fiber crops market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, consumption, however, showed a perceptible decline. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Primary Fiber Crops Exports

Exports in CIS

In 2022, approx. X tons of fiber crops (primary) were exported in the CIS; falling by X% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, primary fiber crops exports shrank dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Tajikistan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) were the largest exporters of fiber crops (primary) in 2022, finishing at approx. X% and X% of total exports, respectively. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, primary fiber crops imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
