Preserved Asparagus Market Size in CIS

The CIS preserved asparagus market declined to $X in 2020, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Overall, consumption saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Preserved Asparagus Production in CIS

In value terms, preserved asparagus production declined to $X in 2020 estimated in export prices. Over the period under review, production saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Production By Country in CIS

Russia (X tonnes) remains the largest preserved asparagus producing country in the CIS, comprising approx. X% of total volume. Moreover, preserved asparagus production in Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Kazakhstan (X tonnes), sevenfold. Uzbekistan (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total production with a X% share.

In Russia, preserved asparagus production remained relatively stable over the period from 2007-2020. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+X% per year) and Uzbekistan (+X% per year).

Preserved Asparagus Exports

Exports in CIS

In 2020, shipments abroad of preserved asparagus was finally on the rise to reach X tonnes after two years of decline. Overall, exports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, exports attained the peak of X tonnes. From 2014 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, preserved asparagus exports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant increase. As a result, exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2020, Russia (X kg) was the key exporter of preserved asparagus, comprising X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X kg), creating a X% share of total exports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of preserved asparagus. At the same time, Belarus (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. Russia (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Belarus saw its share reduced by -X% from 2007 to 2020, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) emerged as the largest preserved asparagus supplier in the CIS, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Belarus ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the preserved asparagus export price in the CIS amounted to $X per tonne, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a tangible increase. As a result, export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per tonne), while Belarus stood at $X per tonne.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia.

Preserved Asparagus Imports

Imports in CIS

After four years of growth, purchases abroad of preserved asparagus decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate perceptible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tonnes. From 2012 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, preserved asparagus imports surged to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates preserved asparagus imports structure, reaching X tonnes, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2020. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tonnes), making up a X% share of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tonnes) occupied a minor share of total imports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the preserved asparagus imports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Belarus (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2020, the share of Russia increased by +X% percentage points, while Kyrgyzstan (-X p.p.) saw their share reduced. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
