Exports in CIS

Spectacle plastic frame exports fell notably to X units in 2023, waning by X% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports showed a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then fell significantly in the following year.

In value terms, spectacle plastic frame exports dropped rapidly to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2023, Russia (X units) was the key exporter of plastic frames and mountings for spectacles and goggles, mixing up X% of total exports. Uzbekistan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Armenia (X units). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. Belarus (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Russia decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Belarus (X%) and Uzbekistan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Armenia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Uzbekistan, Armenia and Belarus increased by X, X and X percentage points, respectively.

In 2023, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, picking up by X% against the previous year. Export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Armenia (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2023, purchases abroad of plastic frames and mountings for spectacles and goggles decreased by X% to X units for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, spectacle plastic frame imports totaled $X in 2023. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia prevails in imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near X% of total imports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Azerbaijan (X units), committing a X% share of total imports. The following importers - Belarus (X units) and Moldova (X units) - together made up X% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to spectacle plastic frame imports into Russia stood at X%. At the same time, Azerbaijan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Moldova (X%) and Belarus (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Azerbaijan (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while Azerbaijan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
