Pistachio Market Size in CIS

In 2022, the CIS pistachio market decreased by X% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, consumption showed a mild downturn. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Pistachio Production in CIS

In value terms, pistachio production reduced to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2020 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Armenia (X tons) remains the largest pistachio producing country in the CIS, accounting for X% of total volume. Moreover, pistachio production in Armenia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Kyrgyzstan (X tons), threefold. Tajikistan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total production with a X% share.

In Armenia, pistachio production remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kyrgyzstan (X% per year) and Tajikistan (X% per year).

The average pistachio yield dropped to X tons per ha in 2022, with a decrease of X% on the previous year. Overall, the yield, however, recorded a strong increase. Exports in CIS

In 2022, the amount of pistachios exported in the CIS shrank dramatically to X tons, waning by X% compared with 2021 figures. In general, exports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined notably in the following year.

In value terms, pistachio exports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

In 2022, Kyrgyzstan (X tons), distantly followed by Armenia (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) were the main exporters of pistachios, together committing X% of total exports. Russia (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.
