In value terms, Russia ($X) also remains the largest medicaments containing insulin supplier in the CIS.

Imports in CIS
Medicaments containing insulin imports dropped notably to X tons in 2021, reducing by -73.4% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports faced a precipitous shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 317%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, medicaments containing insulin imports dropped significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports faced a significant decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 302%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia represented the key importer of medicaments containing insulin but not antibiotics in the CIS, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 88% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X kg), comprising an 11% share of total imports.
Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -41.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belarus (+35.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +35.1% from 2012-2021. Belarus (+11 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -11.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported medicaments containing insulin but not antibiotics in the CIS, comprising 100% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 0.1% share of total imports.
In Russia, medicaments containing insulin imports plunged by an average annual rate of -27.6% over the period from 2012-2021.

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 38% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 123%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
