Maize Starch Exports

Exports in CIS

In 2022, shipments abroad of maize (corn) starch decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, maize starch exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X tons) represented the key exporter of maize (corn) starch, comprising X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), creating a X% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to maize starch exports from Russia stood at X%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (X%), Azerbaijan (X%) and Kazakhstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Azerbaijan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Uzbekistan increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Tajikistan (X%), Armenia (X%), Kazakhstan (X%), Azerbaijan (X%) and Kyrgyzstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Russia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan increased by X, X, X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
