The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Russia represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which amounted to 86% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), generating a 13% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to hot-rolled bearing steel bar exports from Russia stood at +4.9%. At the same time, Belarus (+16.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +16.8% from 2012-2021. Belarus (+7.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -8.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest hot-rolled bearing steel bar supplier in the CIS, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 17% share of total exports.

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, rising by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced curtailment. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hot-rolled bearing steel bar imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 84% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Belarus (X tons) represented the key importer of hot-rolled bars in bearing steels, constituting 54% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Russia (X tons). All these countries together took near 40% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +31.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hot-rolled bars in bearing steels in the CIS, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 27% share of total imports. It was followed by Russia, with a 12% share.
