Handmade Paper Exports

Exports in CIS

In 2023, overseas shipments of handmade paper and paperboard were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, handmade paper exports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Russia dominates exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. Kazakhstan (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to handmade paper exports from Russia stood at X%. At the same time, Kazakhstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Russia stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (X%).

In 2023, the amount of handmade paper and paperboard imported in the CIS surged to X tons, with an increase of X% on 2022. In general, imports posted a mild increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, handmade paper imports soared to $X in 2023. Overall, imports posted a tangible expansion. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2023, Russia (X tons) was the major importer of handmade paper and paperboard, mixing up X% of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Azerbaijan (X%). Belarus (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Azerbaijan (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
