In 2023, overseas shipments of glues based on starches, dextrins or other modified starches decreased by less than X% to X tons for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate slight growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, starch glue exports dropped to $X in 2023. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2023, Russia (X tons) represented the largest exporter of glues based on starches, dextrins or other modified starches, generating X% of total exports. Belarus (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Uzbekistan (X%).

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Uzbekistan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Belarus (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, starch glue imports surged to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, showed a slight setback. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia represented the largest importer of glues based on starches, dextrins or other modified starches in the CIS, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together creating a X% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
