Russia (X tons) remains the largest glass fibre mat producing country in the CIS, comprising approx. X% of total volume. Moreover, glass fibre mat production in Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Belarus (X tons), fivefold.

In 2021, overseas shipments of glass fibre mats decreased by -X% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after four years of growth. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, glass fibre mat exports shrank slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed prominent growth. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Russia (X tons) was the main exporter of glass fibre mats, creating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), generating a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +X value terms, Russia ($X) and Belarus ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021.

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre mat imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Russia represented the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded X% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) held an X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (X%) and Uzbekistan (X%). Azerbaijan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -X% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+X%), Uzbekistan (+X%) and Kyrgyzstan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-X%) and Belarus (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+X p.p.), Azerbaijan (+X p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-X p.p.), Kazakhstan (-X p.p.) and Russia (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported glass fibre mats in the CIS, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Kazakhstan ($X), with an X% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at +X%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-X% per year) and Belarus (-X% per year).

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of X% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
