Exports in CIS
In 2023, overseas shipments of frozen fish fillet decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2022, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, frozen fish fillet exports reduced notably to $X in 2023. Total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2022 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Russia dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), comprising a X% share of total exports.
Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the frozen fish fillet exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Kazakhstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Russia (X p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2023, falling by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Russia totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (X%).

Imports in CIS
In 2023, imports of frozen fish fillet in the CIS was estimated at X tons, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, frozen fish fillet imports totaled $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Russia represented the main importing country with an import of about X tons, which finished at X% of total imports. Belarus (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Moldova (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to frozen fish fillet imports into Russia stood at X%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (X%) and Moldova (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Belarus (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (X p.p.), Moldova (X p.p.), Kazakhstan (X p.p.) and Uzbekistan (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Belarus saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported frozen fish fillet in the CIS, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Moldova, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (X% per year) and Moldova (X% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2023, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, flattening at the previous year. Import price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, frozen fish fillet import price increased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2023 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
