Footwear Exports

Exports in CIS

In 2022, shipments abroad of footwear increased by X% to X pairs, rising for the seventh consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, footwear exports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

Belarus (X pairs) and Uzbekistan (X pairs) prevails in exports structure, together constituting X% of total exports. Russia (X pairs) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Kyrgyzstan (X%). Armenia (X pairs) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Armenia (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest footwear supplying countries in the CIS were Belarus ($X), Russia ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports.

In 2022, the amount of footwear imported in the CIS shrank rapidly to X pairs, with a decrease of X% on the year before. Total imports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. Belarus (X pairs), Armenia (X pairs) and Moldova (X pairs) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of footwear. At the same time, Azerbaijan (X%), Belarus (X%), Moldova (X%) and Armenia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Azerbaijan and Belarus increased by X and X percentage points, respectively.
