The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank notably in the following year.

Belarus (X units) and Russia (X units) prevails in exports structure, together mixing up 89% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X units), making up a 10% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Kyrgyzstan (with a CAGR of +169.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest files and rasps supplier in the CIS, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 19% share of total exports.

In Russia, files and rasps exports shrank by an average annual rate of -2.3% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+32.4% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+52.6% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 6.3% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, approx. X units of files, rasps and similar tools were imported in the CIS; with a decrease of -3.4% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, files and rasps imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Russia represented the main importer of files, rasps and similar tools in the CIS, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was approx. 75% of total imports in 2022. Belarus (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Kazakhstan (X units). All these countries together held near 19% share of total imports. Uzbekistan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to files and rasps imports into Russia stood at -2.1%. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+8.9%), Belarus (+8.0%) and Uzbekistan (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +8.9% from 2012-2022. While the share of Belarus (+5.8 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+4.9 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-14.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported files, rasps and similar tools in the CIS, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 7.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 6.1% share.

In Russia, files and rasps imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (-0.2% per year) and Kazakhstan (+4.7% per year).

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 11% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
