Eggplant Market Size in CIS

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in the CIS eggplant market, when its value decreased by X% to $X. In general, consumption, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. Russia (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, eggplant export price decreased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, eggplant imports totaled $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia was the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at X% of total imports. Azerbaijan (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (X%). Armenia (X tons) and Moldova (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of eggplants (aubergines). At the same time, Azerbaijan (X%), Armenia (X%) and Moldova (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kazakhstan (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
