The average cucumber and gherkin yield stood at X tons per ha in 2022, picking up by X% compared with the previous year. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the yield increased by X%. Over the period under review, the cucumber and gherkin yield hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

Cucumber And Gherkin Exports
Exports in CIS
In 2022, approx. X tons of cucumbers and gherkins were exported in the CIS; declining by X% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cucumber and gherkin exports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

Belarus represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for X% of total exports. Russia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons). The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in CIS
In 2022, purchases abroad of cucumbers and gherkins increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cucumber and gherkin imports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Russia was the largest importer of cucumbers and gherkins in the CIS, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2022. Kazakhstan (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (X%). The following importers - Moldova (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to cucumber and gherkin imports into Russia stood at X%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (X%), Armenia (X%), Belarus (X%) and Moldova (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kazakhstan (X%) and Azerbaijan (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belarus (X p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (X p.p.), Kazakhstan (X p.p.), Armenia (X p.p.) and Moldova (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Azerbaijan and Russia saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cucumbers and gherkins in the CIS, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with an X% share.
In Russia, cucumber and gherkin imports decreased by an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (X% per year) and Kazakhstan (X% per year).
