Construction Sands Exports

Exports in CIS

In 2022, shipments abroad of construction sands decreased by -12.6% to X tons for the first time since 2011, thus ending a ten-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 202% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, construction sands exports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 238% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then plummeted in the following year.

Exports by Country

Russia (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) represented roughly 89% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), generating an 11% share of total exports.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which accounted for 40% of total imports.
