For the fourth consecutive year, the CIS recorded growth in overseas shipments of colour lakes, preparations based on colour lakes, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, colour lake exports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Armenia (X tons) was the largest exporter of colour lakes, preparations based on colour lakes, committing X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), achieving a X% share of total exports. Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of X%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, colour lake imports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Russia prevails in imports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2022. Belarus (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (X%). Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to colour lake imports into Russia stood at X%. At the same time, Tajikistan (X%) and Uzbekistan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan increased by X, X and X percentage points, respectively.
