Clutch Exports

Exports in CIS

Clutch exports dropped to X tons in 2022, stabilizing at the previous year's figure. Total exports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +7.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, clutch exports totaled $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X tons) represented the largest exporter of clutches, committing 65% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), constituting a 31% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+30.9%) and Belarus (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +30.9% from 2012-2022. While the share of Russia (+2.5 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Belarus (-5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Belarus ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 96% of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Kazakhstan, with a CAGR of +28.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 21%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS

In 2022, approx. X tons of clutches were imported in the CIS; shrinking by -7.3% against the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +5.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 36%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, clutch imports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 70% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons), together creating a 24% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of clutches. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+28.6%), Uzbekistan (+11.3%) and Belarus (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +28.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-1.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+7.7 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+2.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-3.2 p.p.) and Russia (-6.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+0.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (+0.1% per year).
