In 2022, overseas shipments of cloves decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed modest growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, clove exports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a noticeable setback. Russia dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Belarus (X kg) and Uzbekistan (X kg) - together made up X% of total exports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of cloves. At the same time, Belarus (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Uzbekistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Belarus (X p.p.) and Uzbekistan (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

Clove imports skyrocketed to X tons in 2022, picking up by X% compared with the previous year. In general, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, clove imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%.
