The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, carpet exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Belarus was the main exporter of carpets and other textile floor coverings in the CIS, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2021. Uzbekistan (X tons) took an X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Russia (X%) and Moldova (X%).

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to carpet exports from Belarus stood at +X%. At the same time, Russia (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. Uzbekistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a noticeable reduction. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (-X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. Kazakhstan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Kyrgyzstan (X%), Belarus (X%) and Azerbaijan (X%). Moldova (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of carpets and other textile floor coverings.
