In 2023, the amount of biological products exported in the CIS skyrocketed to X tons, rising by X% against 2022. Overall, exports saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to biological product exports from Russia stood at X%. At the same time, Azerbaijan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Belarus (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Azerbaijan (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Belarus and Russia saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively.

Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, biological product imports reduced modestly to $X in 2023. In general, imports showed a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded X% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Belarus (X%). Tajikistan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of biological products. At the same time, Tajikistan (X%) and Kazakhstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Belarus (X%) and Uzbekistan (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kazakhstan (X p.p.), Tajikistan (X p.p.) and Uzbekistan (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2023, the share of Belarus (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
