The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium hydroxide exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 149% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia (X tons) represented roughly 100% of total exports in 2021.
Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aluminium hydroxide exports, with a CAGR of +69.6% from 2012 to 2021. While the share of Russia (+35 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) also remains the largest aluminium hydroxide supplier in the CIS.
In Russia, aluminium hydroxide exports expanded at an average annual rate of +45.0% over the period from 2012-2021.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -7.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.
From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Russia amounted to -14.5% per year.

In 2021, after four years of decline, there was growth in supplies from abroad of aluminium hydroxide, when their volume increased by 0.4% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 36%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium hydroxide imports totaled $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) was the largest importer of aluminium hydroxide, creating 66% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), constituting a 30% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to aluminium hydroxide imports into Russia stood at -13.1%. At the same time, Tajikistan (+14.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +14.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belarus (-1.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus and Tajikistan increased by +17 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aluminium hydroxide in the CIS, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 20% share of total imports.
In Russia, aluminium hydroxide imports shrank by an average annual rate of -9.5% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (-3.9% per year) and Tajikistan (+26.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 6.5% against the previous year. Import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, aluminium hydroxide import price decreased by -8.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 22%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tajikistan (+10.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
