Turkey Meat Market Size in China

In 2020, the Chinese turkey meat market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a three-year declining trend. in general, consumption, however, recorded a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the market value increased by X% y-o-y. Turkey meat consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2020, overseas shipments of turkey meat decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the fifth year in a row after three years of growth. in general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, turkey meat exports shrank significantly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports posted slight growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Cambodia (X tonnes), Bahrain (X tonnes) and Luxembourg (X tonnes) were the main destinations of turkey meat exports from China, with a combined X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bahrain, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Cambodia ($X) remains the key foreign market for turkey meat exports from China, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Bahrain ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Luxembourg, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to Cambodia totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bahrain (+X% per year) and Luxembourg (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average turkey meat export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a pronounced increase from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, turkey meat export price increased by +X% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. in 2020, the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Uganda ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uganda, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into China

In 2020, supplies from abroad of turkey meat increased by X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2016, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, turkey meat imports soared to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a tangible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The U.S. (X tonnes), Chile (X tonnes) and Russia (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of turkey meat imports to China, with a combined X% share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Russia (+X% per year), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest turkey meat suppliers to China were the U.S. ($X), Chile ($X) and Russia ($X), together comprising X% of total imports.

Russia (+X% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average turkey meat import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. in general, the import price, however, posted tangible growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 an increase of X% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2019, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per tonne), while the price for Russia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
