South Korea (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the main destinations of cattle hide and skin exports from China, together comprising 94% of total exports. These countries were followed by Australia, which accounted for a further 3.9%.

Imports into China

After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of raw hides and skins of cattle decreased by -5.4% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cattle hide and skin imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, the average cattle hide and skin import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 55% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
