Paperboard Case Material Market Size in China

In 2022, the Chinese paperboard case material market decreased by -0.5% to $X, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The exports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, paperboard case material exports fell modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a prominent increase. Imports into China

In 2022, purchases abroad of paperboard case materials decreased by -7.6% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after seven years of growth. In general, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, paperboard case material imports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 103%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

Russia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) were the main suppliers of paperboard case material imports to China, with a combined 33% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +232.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
