In value terms, preserved peas exports declined to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports faced a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

Colombia (X tonnes) was the main destination for preserved peas exports from Chile, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, preserved peas exports to Colombia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Peru (X kg), more than tenfold. Bolivia (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Colombia totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Peru (-X% per year) and Bolivia (-X% per year).

In value terms, Colombia ($X) remains the key foreign market for preserved peas exports from Chile, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Ecuador ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Panama, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Colombia totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ecuador (-X% per year) and Panama (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average preserved peas export price amounted to $X per tonne, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, preserved peas export price increased by +X% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average export prices reached the maximum in 2020 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Bolivia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ecuador, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Chile

Preserved peas imports into Chile reduced modestly to X tonnes in 2020, waning by -X% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, preserved peas imports expanded markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

In 2020, China (X tonnes) constituted the largest preserved peas supplier to Chile, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, preserved peas imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the U.S. (X tonnes), more than tenfold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the U.S. (+X% per year) and Mexico (+X% per year).

In value terms, China ($X), the U.S. ($X) and Mexico ($X) constituted the largest preserved peas suppliers to Chile, together accounting for X% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Mexico (+X% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2020, the average preserved peas import price amounted to $X per tonne, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, import prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was the U.S. ($X per tonne), while the price for China ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the U.S., while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
