Exports from Chile

Crude granite exports from Chile soared to X tons in 2021, rising by 16% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports continue to indicate tangible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 537%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, crude granite exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 144% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Sweden (X tons), Germany (X tons) and China (X kg) were the main destinations of crude granite exports from Chile.

In 2022, overseas purchases of granite (crude) decreased by -32.6% to X kg, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports faced a sharp reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 415% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, crude granite imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports faced a abrupt slump. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, India (X kg) constituted the largest supplier of crude granite to Chile, accounting for a 76% share of total imports. Moreover, crude granite imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X kg), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Argentina (X kg), with a 3.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from India totaled -30.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-28.6% per year) and Argentina (-46.0% per year).

In 2022, the average crude granite import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 7,036% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a significant increase. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
