The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Ecuador (X tonnes), the United States (X tonnes) and Germany (X tonnes) were the main destinations of banana and plantain exports from Chile, with a combined X% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Ecuador (+X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for banana and plantain exports from Chile, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Ecuador, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-X% per year) and Ecuador (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average banana and plantain export price amounted to $X per tonne, waning by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
