The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Central Asia

In 2021, overseas shipments of uncoated kraft liner increased by 26% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 179% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, uncoated kraft liner exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 175% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Kyrgyzstan represented the key exporter of uncoated kraft liner in Central Asia, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was near 82% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), achieving a 15% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to uncoated kraft liner exports from Kyrgyzstan stood at +20.7%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+1,625.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Among the main exporting countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +1,798.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 42% against the previous year. Export price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, uncoated kraft liner export price increased by +111.8% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, imports of uncoated kraft liner in Central Asia totaled X tons, surging by 8% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 21%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, uncoated kraft liner imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 36%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan was the major importer of uncoated kraft liner in Central Asia, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was near 47% of total imports in 2021.
