In 2021, table linen exports in Central Asia contracted to X tons, waning by -11% on 2020 figures. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, table linen exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 1,009%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Uzbekistan (X tons) was the main exporter of table linen, knitted or crocheted, making up 84% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), constituting a 14% share of total exports.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the table linen, knitted or crocheted exports, with a CAGR of +90.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+28.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan increased by +72 percentage points.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest table linen supplier in Central Asia, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 10% share of total exports.
In Uzbekistan, table linen exports expanded at an average annual rate of +81.6% over the period from 2012-2021.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 87%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (-2.5%).

Imports in Central Asia
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of table linen, knitted or crocheted increased by 112% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, table linen imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 90% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) represented the main importer of table linen, knitted or crocheted, committing 67% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Tajikistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons). All these countries together held near 31% share of total imports.
Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of table linen, knitted or crocheted. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+35.0%) and Kyrgyzstan (+16.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +35.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Tajikistan (-12.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+11 p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (+7 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+3.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Tajikistan (-22.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported table linen, knitted or crocheted in Central Asia, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Tajikistan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 4.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan totaled +1.3%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Tajikistan (-12.9% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+16.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, falling by -15.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 34% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+0.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
