Exports in Central Asia

For the eighth year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in overseas shipments of table, kitchen or household articles and parts of iron, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, iron household articles exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Uzbekistan dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), constituting a X% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the table, kitchen or household articles and parts of iron exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (X%) and Kyrgyzstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Uzbekistan (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia

Iron household articles imports stood at X tons in 2022, increasing by X% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, iron household articles imports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate slight growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan was the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded X% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Tajikistan (X%), Mongolia (X%), Turkmenistan (X%) and Kyrgyzstan (X%).

Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of table, kitchen or household articles and parts of iron. At the same time, Uzbekistan (X%) and Tajikistan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Mongolia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern.
