In 2022, overseas shipments of synthetic organic tanning substances increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after seven years of decline. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep setback. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Kazakhstan represented the largest exporter of synthetic organic tanning substances in Central Asia, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Tajikistan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Uzbekistan (X%) and Kyrgyzstan (X%).

Exports from Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Tajikistan and Uzbekistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Tajikistan (X p.p.), Uzbekistan (X p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan amounted to X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Tajikistan (X% per year) and Uzbekistan (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by X% against the previous year. Export price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, synthetic organic tanning substances export price increased by X% against 2012 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Uzbekistan increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Mongolia (X%) and Kazakhstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mongolia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Tajikistan (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Mongolia, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by X%, X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
