Preserved Peas Market Size in Central Asia

In 2020, the Central Asian preserved peas market increased by X% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after four years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when the market value increased by X% against the previous year. The countries with the highest volumes of preserved peas production in 2020 were Uzbekistan (X tonnes), Kazakhstan (X tonnes) and Tajikistan (X tonnes), together comprising X% of total production. These countries were followed by Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Kyrgyzstan, while preserved peas production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, shipments abroad of preserved peas increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the fifth consecutive year after eight years of decline. In general, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. As a result, exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, preserved peas exports soared to $X in 2020. Overall, exports saw a significant expansion. As a result, exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Uzbekistan dominates preserved peas exports structure, recording X tonnes, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2020. Kazakhstan (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the preserved peas exports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2020. Kazakhstan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2020, the share of Uzbekistan increased by +X% percentage points, while Kazakhstan (-X p.p.) saw their share reduced.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest preserved peas supplier in Central Asia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Kazakhstan ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Uzbekistan totaled +X%.

Export Prices by Country

The preserved peas export price in Central Asia stood at $X per tonne in 2020, increasing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2009 when the export price increased by X% y-o-y. The level of export peaked in 2020 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per tonne), while Kazakhstan totaled $X per tonne.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2020, purchases abroad of preserved peas decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes. From 2019 to 2020, the growth imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, preserved peas imports shrank dramatically to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan (X tonnes) and Uzbekistan (X tonnes) dominates preserved peas imports structure, together making up X% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tonnes) and Mongolia (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Uzbekistan, while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

Among the main importing countries, Uzbekistan saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2020, the preserved peas import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per tonne, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when the import price increased by X% y-o-y. The level of import peaked at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per tonne), while Uzbekistan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
