Exports in Central Asia

In 2021, the amount of motor vehicles for travelling on snow or golf cars exported in Central Asia reduced markedly to X units, with a decrease of -20% against the year before. In general, exports, however, recorded a slight expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 82%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, snow motor vehicle exports dropped sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 83%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X units) was the main exporter of motor vehicles for travelling on snow or golf cars, making up 87% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X units), mixing up a 13% share of total exports.

Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of motor vehicles for travelling on snow or golf cars. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+6.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +6.4% from 2012-2021. Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 8.1%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan totaled $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+5.5%).

Imports in Central Asia

For the third year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in purchases abroad of motor vehicles for travelling on snow or golf cars, which increased by 19% to X units in 2021. In general, imports saw a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 115% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, snow motor vehicle imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 76%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan dominates imports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 87% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), generating a 4.6% share of total imports. Mongolia (X units), Turkmenistan (X units) and Tajikistan (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to snow motor vehicle imports into Kazakhstan stood at +1.4%. At the same time, Turkmenistan (+10.2%) and Tajikistan (+4.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkmenistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +10.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Mongolia (-6.2%) and Uzbekistan (-47.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+4.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan and Mongolia saw its share reduced by -3.1% and -3.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
