Envelope Exports
Exports in Central Asia
After two years of growth, overseas shipments of envelopes decreased by X% to X tons in 2023. In general, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2022, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, envelope exports reduced dramatically to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2022, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which amounted to X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X kg), generating an X% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X kg) took a relatively small share of total exports.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the envelopes exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Uzbekistan (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (X p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2023, the share of Kazakhstan (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest envelope supplier in Central Asia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a X% share of total exports.
In Kazakhstan, envelope exports increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (X% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2023, waning by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2023, approx. X tons of envelopes were imported in Central Asia; with an increase of X% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, envelope imports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, showed a slight setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan was the key importer of envelopes in Central Asia, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2023. Turkmenistan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Uzbekistan (X%) and Kyrgyzstan (X%). Mongolia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Turkmenistan (X%), Uzbekistan (X%), Kyrgyzstan (X%) and Mongolia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkmenistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. While the share of Uzbekistan (X p.p.), Turkmenistan (X p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2023, the share of Kazakhstan (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
