After two years of growth, shipments abroad of crude soybean oil decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2019. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum at X tonnes in 2018, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In value terms, crude soybean oil exports reduced rapidly to $X in 2019. Overall, exports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2019, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The shipments of the one major exporters of crude soybean oil, namely Kazakhstan, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the crude soybean oil exports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2019. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) also remains the largest crude soybean oil supplier in Central Asia.

In 2019, overseas purchases of crude soybean oil decreased by -X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2014, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tonnes in 2018, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In value terms, crude soybean oil imports declined markedly to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Imports by Country

Uzbekistan dominates crude soybean oil imports structure, reaching X tonnes, which was near X% of total imports in 2019. The following importers - Turkmenistan (X tonnes) and Tajikistan (X tonnes) - together made up X% of total imports.

Imports into Uzbekistan increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2019. At the same time, Turkmenistan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkmenistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2019. Tajikistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern.
