Exports in Central Asia

In 2022, approx. X kg of carob were exported in Central Asia; with a decrease of X% against 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, carob imports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan represented the key importer of carob in Central Asia, with the volume of imports accounting for X kg, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2022. Uzbekistan (X kg) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Turkmenistan (X kg). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the carob imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Uzbekistan (X%) and Turkmenistan (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In Kazakhstan, carob imports expanded at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (X% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (X% per year).
