Exports in Central Asia
In 2021, overseas shipments of aluminium tubes and pipes were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium tube exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from Kazakhstan (X tons), together reaching 100% of total export.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aluminium tubes and pipes exports, with a CAGR of -3.9% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) also remains the largest aluminium tube supplier in Central Asia.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan amounted to +6.7%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, surging by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 169% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.
From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kazakhstan amounted to +11.0% per year.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of aluminium tubes and pipes decreased by -53.6% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 206%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, aluminium tube imports reduced sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 221%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
Uzbekistan represented the main importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 52% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), Turkmenistan (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons), together committing a 47% share of total imports.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aluminium tubes and pipes imports, with a CAGR of +24.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+12.1%), Turkmenistan (+4.5%) and Tajikistan (+3.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-4.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan increased by +52 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, the largest aluminium tube importing markets in Central Asia were Uzbekistan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Turkmenistan ($X), with a combined 91% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +32.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 70% against the previous year. Import price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+8.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
