Exports from Bulgaria

Crispbread exports from Bulgaria rose notably to X tons in 2021, growing by 8% on the previous year's figure. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 145%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, crispbread exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 235%. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Greece (X tons) was the main destination for crispbread exports from Bulgaria, with a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, crispbread exports to Greece exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), twofold. In 2021, supplies from abroad of crispbread decreased by -24.1% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 38%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, crispbread imports reduced modestly to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable decrease.
