In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for carpet exports from Bulgaria, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Morocco ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Romania, with a 2.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Saudi Arabia totaled +70.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Morocco (+291.4% per year) and Romania (+55.7% per year).

India (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3% share.

The average carpet import price stood at $X per square meter in 2021, with an increase of 34% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild curtailment. The import price peaked at $X per square meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per square meter), while the price for Belgium ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
