From 2016 to 2019, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, carpet exports contracted to $X in 2019. In general, exports, however, showed a mild slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2019, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Turkey (X tonnes), Greece (X tonnes) and Romania (X tonnes) were the main destinations of carpet exports from Bulgaria, together accounting for X% of total exports. The U.S., Italy, Jordan and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Jordan (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for carpet exports from Bulgaria, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Italy ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Greece, with a X% share.

In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2019, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, carpet imports rose modestly to $X in 2019. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year.
