Aluminium Bar Market Size in Bulgaria

Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2019, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium bar exports shrank notably to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, showed a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tonnes) was the main destination for aluminium bar exports from Bulgaria, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, aluminium bar exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Greece (X tonnes), twofold. The Czech Republic (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Greece (+X% per year) and the Czech Republic (+X% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for aluminium bar exports from Bulgaria, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Greece ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a X% share.

In 2020, the average aluminium bar export price amounted to $X per tonne, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices to the UK ($X per tonne) and Germany ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Austria ($X per tonne) and Ukraine ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2020, overseas purchases of aluminium bars, rods and profiles decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. Overall, imports, however, posted pronounced growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tonnes. From 2019 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aluminium bar imports fell notably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X.
