In 2021, approx. X tons of wood charcoal were imported into Brazil; jumping by 108% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wood charcoal imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed resilient growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Indonesia (X tons), Paraguay (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of wood charcoal imports to Brazil, together comprising 97% of total imports.
