The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Argentina (X tonnes), Pakistan (X tonnes) and South Korea (X tonnes) were the main destinations of palm kernel exports from Brazil, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Fiji, Italy, the Netherlands, Guatemala, the U.S., Thailand, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Serbia and Spain, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Fiji (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Argentina ($X) remains the key foreign market for palm kernel exports from Brazil, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Italy ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Guatemala, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Argentina amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+X% per year) and Guatemala (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average palm kernel export price amounted to $X per tonne, jumping by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. In 2020, supplies from abroad of palm kernels decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the fourth consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, palm kernel imports surged to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports showed a measured expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Thailand (X tonnes), China (X tonnes) and Mexico (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of palm kernel imports to Brazil, with a combined X% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Peru, the Netherlands, Argentina and the U.S., which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Argentina (+X% per year), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
