For the third year in a row, the Brazilian mercury market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -X% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption saw a abrupt shrinkage. Mercury consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

After nine years of growth, shipments abroad of mercuries decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tonnes in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, mercury exports contracted to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, mercury imports contracted sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a precipitous descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Japan (X kg), Hong Kong SAR (X kg) and the United States (X kg) were the main suppliers of mercury imports to Brazil, with a combined X% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Japan (with a CAGR of -X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, the largest mercury suppliers to Brazil were the United States ($X), Hong Kong SAR ($X) and Japan ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports.
Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of -X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
