Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of chlorates and perchlorates, bromates and perbromates, iodates and periodates, when their volume decreased by -43% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 142%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then dropped notably in the following year.

In value terms, chlorates, bromates and iodates exports contracted remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 54%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

South Africa (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main destinations of chlorates, bromates and iodates exports from Brazil, together comprising 45% of total exports. The United States, Argentina, the UK, China and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +283.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Belgium ($X) remains the key foreign market for chlorates and perchlorates, bromates and perbromates, iodates and periodates exports from Brazil, comprising 29% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by South Africa, with a 9.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Belgium amounted to -5.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Argentina (+19.6% per year) and South Africa (+12.5% per year).

In 2021, the average chlorates, bromates and iodates export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a precipitous contraction. Imports into Brazil

In 2021, overseas purchases of chlorates and perchlorates, bromates and perbromates, iodates and periodates increased by 115% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after six years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep downturn. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chlorates, bromates and iodates imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a drastic downturn. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Uruguay (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of chlorates, bromates and iodates to Brazil, accounting for a 71% share of total imports. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.7% share.

The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 9.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Uruguay totaled -3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+91.0% per year) and China (-10.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average chlorates, bromates and iodates import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -34.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 87%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Uruguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
