Roundwood Exports

Exports from Belgium

In 2022, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of roundwood, when their volume decreased by X% to X cubic meters. In general, exports, however, saw strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X cubic meters in 2021, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In value terms, roundwood exports dropped dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

Exports by Country

China (X cubic meters) was the main destination for roundwood exports from Belgium, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, roundwood exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X cubic meters), sixfold. Vietnam (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to China totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (X% per year) and Vietnam (X% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
