Palm Kernel Market Size in Belgium

The Belgian palm kernel market skyrocketed to $X in 2019, with an increase of X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In value terms, palm kernel exports dropped sharply to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2019, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tonnes) was the main destination for palm kernel exports from Belgium, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, palm kernel exports to the Netherlands exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tonnes), more than tenfold.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the Netherlands totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+X% per year) and New Zealand (+X% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2019, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2019, overseas purchases of palm kernels increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, imports recorded a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes. From 2015 to 2019, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.
