Mdf Market Size in Belgium

The Belgian MDF market contracted modestly to $X in 2021, falling by -5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a resilient increase. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, MDF exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 34%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

France (X cubic meters) was the main destination for MDF exports from Belgium, with a 33% share of total exports. Moreover, MDF exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X cubic meters), threefold. The UK (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.8% share.

In 2021, approx. X cubic meters of MDF were imported into Belgium; with an increase of 39% on the previous year. Overall, imports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
