Exports from Belgium

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of machinery for public works and building decreased by X% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, public works machinery exports declined remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank notably in the following year.

Exports by Country

France (X units), Germany (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) were the main destinations of public works machinery exports from Belgium, with a combined X% share of total exports. Morocco, Cote d'Ivoire, Spain, the UK, Libya, Senegal, Angola, Italy, Egypt and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
