Exports from Bangladesh

In 2023, after four years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of pantyhose and tights, when their volume decreased by X% to X pairs. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X pairs in 2022, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, pantyhose exports shrank to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2022, and then reduced in the following year.

Exports by Country

Japan (X pairs), Germany (X pairs) and Russia (X pairs) were the main destinations of pantyhose exports from Bangladesh, with a combined X% share of total exports. Turkey, the Czech Republic, South Africa, Austria, the United States, Chile, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Sweden and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, pantyhose export price increased by X% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2022 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per pair, and then dropped in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per pair), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($X per pair) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, pantyhose imports dropped notably to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2023, Hong Kong SAR (X pairs) constituted the largest supplier of pantyhose to Bangladesh, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, pantyhose imports from Hong Kong SAR exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X pairs), threefold. India (X pairs) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of volume from Hong Kong SAR totaled X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (X% per year) and India (X% per year).
